Medical Exam

Today we went for Grace's  medical exam by the International Travel Health Care Center.  Most of it was harmless, however, we were told that children over age 2 would have to have a "bloody test" aka she would have to have blood drawn. And parents are not allowed to go with them (for that part) by law!  We were all praying that God would wrap Grace in His arms and give her peace.

When we first got there they took her picture; then they weighed her, took some measurements and tested her vision. Then, an ENT checked her and the doctor checked over her entire body. When we first got Grace she had some spots on her legs and various other places we were told were from the final stages of chicken pox. The doctors asked a lot of questions. A little unnerving.

Finally, they did the TB test. There was a lot of noise in the area, multiple babies crying making it more difficult to distinguish Grace's voice (probably a good thing). They opened the door and brought her back to us with crocodile tears in her eyes and a band-aid on her arm. God love it!  We were FINISHED!!

It was a beautiful sight watching more than 50 families all waiting in line to get their babies checked. People from all over the United States, even Spain and Norway!  I can't tell you how precious it was to meet many of these families and hear how God has moved in their lives. Many, many kindred spirits in the room, and 50 babies no longer orphans.

One person we met was Rochelle, a beautiful African American girl from Brooklyn, NY and her daughter, Journey Rose. Guess where she goes to church??  Yep!! The Brooklyn Tabernacle!!  And guess how long she and her husband have waited for Journey Rose? Yep, almost 8 years...just like us!  Precious, sweet girl who traveled here alone. She and her husband run their own business back in Brooklyn and this is their busiest time of the year so he could not come. She has been waiting all of these years for a well baby as young as possible and Journey Rose is a beautiful 16 month old.

The Lord is good and greatly to be praised!

Thank you all for your prayers today!

Sounds like y'all have meet a lot of great people, gone thru some difficult times, and heart wrenching moments and almost drained emotionally! Sure getting home to some "normal" life will settle you all. Love you and praying!
