It wasn't really goodbye, it was see ya later. It seemed like goodbye and it felt like goodbye but it really wasn't goodbye. I watched Caleb, my baby son (don't tell him I called him that), walk down the long hall from the terminal and the Delta airlines boarding gate until he was out of sight today...waving with tears streaming down my cheeks all the way. I'm so incredibly proud of him and equally excited about the journey he's taking to Hillsong Leadership College in Sydney, Australia that I can hardly keep it in but even still the pain of change and separation cannot be hidden.
I am so grateful for the Spirit of the Lord who faithfully speaks words of comfort and peace to my heart. We are surrounded by an army of brothers and sisters walking us through this time and the strength and presence of the Lord is bringing us and Caleb through. I have been asking "the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory - to make Caleb intelligent and discerning in knowing Him personally, his eyes focused and clear, so that he can see exactly what it is He is calling him to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life He has for him, oh, the utter extravagance of His work in us who trust Him - endless energy, boundless strength! All this energy issues from Christ." (Ephesians 1:18-210a MSG) The first chapter of Ephesians opens in the Message translation by saying..."How blessed is God! And what a blessing He is! He's the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in Him. Long before He laid down earth's foundations, He had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of His love, to be made whole and holy by His love. Long, long ago He decided to adopt us into His family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure He took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of His lavish gift-giving by the hand of His beloved Son."
Is that not something? The "high places of blessing in Jesus" are indescribable. The blessing of His peace, hope, love and goodness keep us in times like these. It is for REAL. This is not some make believe story for kids. No this is where the rubber meets the road; when it seems unbearable you can experience the energy of heaven. When you could easily fall to pieces you find supernatural strength. Thank you, Lord Jesus. You are Faithful and I'm holding on to You again with everything in me!
