I know one day I’m gonna wish I’d written more, documented more, and blogged more of what the Lord is saying and doing in and around me. But, let’s not dwell on the past (or is that the future! ) let’s redeem the time and live TODAY for all its worth!
Just after the New Year, Grace brought home her 2nd semester grades and the darling child was on A-B Honor Roll!!!!!!! She brought home a blue honor roll ribbon and a red outstanding character award! She said, “Mama, are you so proud of me?” I said, “YES!!!! I am SOOOOO proud of you sweet girl!!” We are finding that she continually yearns for approval and to be affirmed by us. She needs a lot of praise and encouragement. And Jesus knows, she probably received little to none the first 7 and half years of her life.
Sometimes my heart just breaks when I think about all that Grace missed. I don’t know what her life was like and I can’t go there often but as she is able to articulate more and more she opens up at times to talk about China and her life before us. We want to leave the door open for her to talk about her past when she’s ready without pushing or prodding for conversation that may be difficult for her. We also believe it’s good as much as she can to get things off her chest, so to speak.
Sometimes when I look and listen to her I see so much brokenness. I was walking behind her as we left church Sunday morning. She walked hand in hand with her Daddy just in front of me. Her little body is so broken. Had she received the medical care she needed in the first months or year of her life her hip would be so much better. But then when I think of how much progress has been made in 13 ½ months I’m just blown away! And I KNOW more is to come. I serve a God who mends the broken and heals every disease whether physical, mental, emotional or spiritual (Psalm 103:3). Grace WILL be healed! I pray Isaiah 40:29-31 over her today…
Isaiah 40:29-31
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
I’m looking to the day when Grace will SOAR and RUN and WALK and not faint! One day soon…one day soon!! May the name of the Lord be praised.
