The LORD has been SO good to me I’ve found myself wondering this
year what could I do to bring Him delight.
Last year I joined the Scripture Memory Team at church trying to put verses of
simple praise to memory. Don’t
misunderstand, I have my moments (even days) that don’t go well but when I truly
examine my life I know that I live under the favor of the LORD - 24/7. I just wanted to spend 2013 rehearsing verses
of praise and it’s interesting how during that time a 7 ½ year prayer was
answered.
The year closed in heightened anticipation of our trip to
China and the first several months of 2014 were almost a blur of new adventure in
a new season with our new daughter, Grace.
Somewhere in the midst of that haze I heard the word “delight.” I was delighting in God’s gift of Grace and began
to search the scriptures for what brings Him delights. I found verses like Psalm 147:11, “The LORD
delights in those who fear Him, who put their hope in His unfailing love” and
Psalm 149:4, “The LORD delights in His people; He crowns the humble with
victory.”
Jeremiah 9:24 says, “let him who boasts boast about this:
that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness,
justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight, declares the
LORD.” And, Psalm 45:11, “your royal
husband delights in your beauty; honor him for he is your lord.”
But, maybe two of my favorites are Matthew 12:18, “Here is
my Servant whom I have chosen, the One I love, in whom I delight; I will put my
Spirit on Him, and He will proclaim justice to the nations.” And, Micah 7:18, “Who is a God like You, who
pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of His inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to
show mercy.”
It just doesn’t get any better than that!! To be continued…
