Praise the Lord…that's all I can do as I think about our first week with Grace. Last Thursday night we landed in Birmingham and I truly cannot believe how well she has done. Yes, those first couple of days were rough in the hospital but once this little peewee started feeling better she's absolutely continued to melt our hearts. She's learning more English every day and I really am blown away at how well we are communicating. A close friend sent me a message in China that she was praying we would have the gift of language like the disciples did in Acts, and I can testify we definitely have been given the gift of understanding each other's language in so many ways! Thank You, Jesus!!
The two things we've heard from everybody that are the hardest hurdles to overcome are sleeping and eating. We've had very little difficulty with either. Grace eats just about everything we eat (she officially loves cream of wheat…a childhood favorite of mine AND Mama's homemade chicken noodle soup!) and sleeps very well for a seven-year-old in a strange place recovering from surgery.
We saw the orthopedic doctor on Tuesday at Children's South. She was NOT all about another doctor's office. They wanted to take an X-ray of her hip to evaluate her progress and she had to be held down. We knew she understood the torture was worth it when the doctor announced…NO MORE BRACE and she bounced up and down, clapped her hands and smiled from ear to ear! We were SO excited! The reports from China read she would need the brace for 3 to 6 months so this was a HUGE surprise! The doctor wants her to begin to put weight on her right side and learn to walk again. It's gonna take some time and therapy but Grace Isabella is on her way to feeling so much better!
Now, you can't learn to walk again without some good walking shoes right? So, we had to make a run for the shoe store. We couldn't believe how fast we were in and out of there. When this little girl makes up her mind there ain't no changing it! The first shoe she tried on was the one she wanted. Not even interested in trying another one on…she was satisfied!! So sweet :) I don't know too many girls that easy to please…including moi!!

She gets so excited at every little thing and laughs more than her Daddy. We are so blessed!
Week two…here we come.
