It’s such a beautiful morning! The crisp, cool, Fall breeze almost takes my breath away. God is SO good! The sun is shining and the leaves are falling and all the earth seems to be singing His praise.
I read this morning, “faith is being SURE (emphasis mine) of what we hope for and CERTAIN of what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1) I want that kind of faith, don’t you? When we read scripture and take the time to “think on these things” it becomes alive in us. It’s meant to be active, to be lived out in the life of a believer. Everything we see with our physical eyes is only a shadow of the unseen.
Verse 6 of Hebrews 11 says, “without faith (believing God) it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” Earnestly seeking Him is an active verb. The tense of the Greek verb is continual action. Does that describe you (& me)? God has been so good to me, and He deserves my all. As I sit and remember His goodness, and look at the beauty of His creation, I’m reminded He is my Creator. My life is not my own. He is a good God, and He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. It’s true, He really does!
Are you seeking Him today? The end of verse 4 in that same chapter in Hebrews says Abel’s faith still speaks, even though he is dead and gone. What if that were true of you and me? That our children and our children’s children and their children still believed because they remembered our faith! Let it be, Lord!!
