Walk On

So often we have huge decisions to make. Decisions that will dramatically affect the course our life will take and the people that surround our lives. Making the right decision is imperative! But sometimes it's very difficult. In fact, during the stage of indecision it's something like being crippled.

I have recently had a major decision to make in my life. I "happened" to be reading in Acts, chapter 3, where a crippled beggar sat hoping for a handout. Peter, a man of faith, told him he didn't have any money but he had something even better to offer. He offered him Jesus and helped him up. Verse 7 says, "Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong."

When I read that the Lord seemed to say, "Karen, that's what you need...strong feet and ankles!" Strange, I know, but stay with me. Then, I thought about Ephesians 6 where it describes our spiritual armor. The boots or sandals of peace give us the ability to stand, and advance, or move forward in victory. When I cannot decide the right thing to do, I am in a sense crippled, I'm unstable, wavering between this and that. Crippled in the sense that I can't get on with it, I can't move forward.

But once the crippled man in Acts 3 was healed, verse 8 says, "He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them (Peter and John) into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God." He was no longer immobile. He not only walked on...he Jumped! He was excited and anxious, and he praised God, the One who touched his life and made the difference.

In verse 9 and 10 it says, "When all the people saw him walking and praising God, they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging...and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him." When God moves in our lives and shows us the way other people will see and will be affected by what has happened to us.

Do you or someone you love have a decision to make? Does it almost feel like your world has stopped until you know the right thing to do? Don't rush into anything. Don't give in to the pressure. Pray that your feet and ankles will be made strong! And the God of peace will lead you in the path of righteousness for His name's sake (Psalm 23:3).
