It's been a wonderful weekend! We cherish this time with Tyler understanding that the next three Christmas's could be very different. We don't know the future so we live every day to the fullest. I'm asking God to take away my need for sleep the next two weeks! lol
We had a beautiful time in the House of the Lord this morning. Sitting next to Tyler, singing the praises of our God who has brought us through so much this year, was a gift! As I sat (& stood) there with eyes and ears wide open, there were so many things about the service that felt like the Lord did "just for us." And you know what? He did. Not because of me or us, but because that is Who God is. He is a personal God to every believer Who wants Him to be and allows Him to be. As I (spiritually) reached out to Him, He came near...in a very powerful, very present way. And it was so obvious that many who stood in His presence today with us were reaching out to Him just like me.
There was a woman in Mark, chapter 5, who needed Jesus in a desperate way...just like I've needed Him and I'm sure you have too. Verse 25 says she had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. Which obviously means she had been very sick, very weak, probably often alone and unable to do what she would have liked to do because of her physical ailment, and she needed help. Verse 26 says she had suffered much and had spent all she had yet she grew worse. She was desperate.
She had heard about this Jesus and she must have had some knowledge of Scripture; because this is the woman who said, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed." Hebrew Scripture in both Numbers and Deuteronomy talked about the corners of the garments of God's people being sewn with tassels as a reminder of God's word and the need to obey it. The Hebrew word "corners" in Numbers and Deuteronomy is translated "wings" in Malachi 4:2, a word that speaks about the coming of the Messiah. It says, "But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall." So it was this woman's faith in Jesus as the Messiah when she said, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed" that Jesus recognized and "immediately (Mark 5:29) her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering."
This is why Jesus came; the reason we celebrate Christmas. He came with healing in His wings. He came to set our hearts free. He came to give us LIFE that is full, abundant, never lacking. He is ALL we need. Reach out to Him...believing He is all you need and your faith will make you whole. And as you do, it will cause you to "leap like calves released from the stall." That's how I felt today (like a cow set out to pasture!!! lol). (I kinda looked like one too... :) haha
Celebrate the King! Love you all...
